February is Black History Month, and a great way for children to learn about the achievements of African Americans is through these fun Black History Coloring Pages.
Since U.S. History can be somewhat boring, a fun way for children to learn about important figures is with these coloring sheets.
Each Black History Month Coloring Sheet showcases notable Black Americans, as well as facts about the person.
Many children are familiar with Dr. Martin Luther King, but elementary students need to understand that there is a rich history of achievements and accolades of African Americans.
Who invented Black History Month?
Black History Month was started by Carter G. Woodson.
Carter G. Woodson began Negro History Week, which eventually turned into Black History Month.
Why is Black History Month important?
Black History Month is important because it helps us to remember and recognize African American leaders that have contributed to the world.
Children need to see representation in various fields.
As a teacher, it is important that children learn about black inventors, black doctors, black scientists, and others who have made a difference in our society.

What should younger students learn during Black History Month?
During the month of February, it is important to teach children about the different roles that African Americans have played throughout history.
Many children are familiar with the underground railroad and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but there are many more African-American inventors that have changed and continue to change the way we live.
How to introduce Black History Month?
First, I use a simple Black History Mini-Book (included in this bundle) and have students read and color the book.
Then I use my Black History Bundle during the month to learn more about each person, and complete activities about each person.
